A Guide to Starting Your Own Creative Business

JaneMade is a female-founded, full-service creative and marketing studio on a mission to inspire and empower women through the creative process. To celebrate their one year anniversary, partners Lindsay Jane Kelly and Kerri Moore wrote their first-ever E-book to share their learnings with like-minded women looking to start, or grow, their own creative business.

0 to 50 in 365—which outlines JaneMade’s growth from zero to 50 clients within the first year of business—is specifically written for creatives, new and seasoned, who want to see a bigger shift in their growth and client intake. It’s a resource that aims to help female founders realize the full potential of their business through an easy-to-follow month-by-month format. Want to know what it takes to become a well-oiled machine with a clear niche, steady workflow, and off-the-charts growth? Keep reading.

Founder/creative director, Lindsay Jane Kelly and partner/brand strategist, Kerri Moore wrote the E-book based on their personal experience nurturing JaneMade. The pair met over a decade ago, first at Rue La La, and then at Follain where they were on the design and marketing teams. And while they’ve been in the business for 11+ years, they believe their learnings in the first year of JaneMade can be applied to every experience level—whether readers already have a client base or are starting from scratch.

The first six “months” (i.e. sections) of the E-book cover everything from building a solid foundation and getting organized to finding your niche and refining your offerings. The last six months dive deeper into topics like process, content strategy, and marketing your business to attract the right work. Throughout the book, readers have access to mini exercises that help to encourage creativity along the journey.
